The challenge

Vivee Home is a female-founded brand selling art-driven ceramics and home decor on Shopify. When we came in, its ads were running, but Meta couldn't see the sales. Purchase events weren't arriving, and the page-view event quality score sat around 5 out of 10.

When an ad platform can't see sales, it can't optimize for them. Worse, nobody can tell whether the ads work at all. Across the account, conversion was below 1%: about 39 purchases from 4,000 clicks.

What we did

Paused Meta until tracking worked

Spending into a blind pixel trains the algorithm on bad data, and you pay for the privilege. In September 2024, we paused Meta rather than keep paying for guesses.

Went hunting for the leak

The fastest diagnostic is a real order. We recommended running purchases through the store with a 100% discount code, across several browsers, to see exactly where events broke.

Comparing systems told the rest of the story. In one 30-day window, Shopify recorded about 12 orders where GA4 saw 5. That's not rounding error. It's a broken pipe. After Black Friday, we walked through recent orders one by one and found more gaps: a cookie banner that blocked session recording, an affiliate tag that broke add-to-cart for one partner, and "direct" orders that really belonged to some other channel.

Cut Google when it didn't convert

A Google test produced 341 clicks and zero attributed conversions. We paused it and put the effort back into Meta once tracking was sorted. Early on, a relaunched ad for the brand's blue vase pulled a 2.78% click-through rate on a small sample, a sign the creative wasn't the main problem.

Started SEO where the store already ranked

The cheapest SEO win is a keyword you already rank for. We focused on terms where Vivee already appeared, like its blue vase variants, with one clear H1 per page naming color and material, and FAQ sections that reinforced the target terms.

Replaced flat discounts with bundles

For Black Friday, we steered the brand away from a flat sitewide discount and toward bundles and conditional discounts. Flat discounts train customers to wait for sales and give margin away on orders that would have happened anyway. Bundles lift order value instead.

Fixed the copy bottleneck

Testing was limited by how few copy variants the team could produce. So we showed them how to set up an AI writing workflow trained on the founder's story, the brand's values and its product pages, so new variants took minutes instead of days.

Results

By December 2024, early SEO work was producing two to three orders, while paid social had produced two orders at about $150 each over the same period. At Vivee's budget, SEO was simply the better channel.

That's not a "from negative to 4.5x ROAS in 30 days" story. It's the honest one. The most valuable thing Vivee Home got was the ability to see where its sales actually came from before deciding where to spend next. Our advice for any brand at this stage: find your fastest growth channel first, then let its revenue fund the slower ones.
